Dhankuta | HUSADEC Nepal actively participated in a two-day residential training on “Disaster-Sensitive Social Protection” held on May 11–12, 2026, organized under the coordination of the Social Protection Civil Society Network (SPCSN) with the support of Save the Children.
HUSADEC Nepal was represented by its Chairperson, Mr. Khemraj Thapa. The training focused on enhancing the effective, inclusive, and accountable use of social protection systems in disaster contexts, aiming to strengthen the capacity of member organizations.
Throughout the program, various sessions were conducted, including discussions, experience sharing, and capacity-building activities. These sessions are expected to further strengthen the preparedness and response capacity of member organizations during disasters.
According to the organizers, the main objective of the training was to enhance institutional capacity of member organizations and enable them to play an effective role in implementing social protection mechanisms during emergencies and disaster situations.
Participants expressed their belief that the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained from the training would contribute significantly to strengthening local disaster risk reduction efforts and improving emergency relief distribution systems, thereby making social protection programs more effective for citizens involved in such schemes.
